Check Out the Sladen Library

Made possible by Medical Education Grant Funding, the Sladen Library debuted its newly renovated space in July 2020. Today the Library serves as a space that accommodates technology, collaboration, or even just a quiet place to unwind. We are very happy to welcome our library users.

The Sladen Library features

• Twelve computers are available for Henry Ford Health team member use. Computer tables allow for adequate social distancing and comfort between users. The computers are equipped with access to the Henry Ford Health network, EPIC, OneDrive, EndNote, MS Office, and printing capabilities.

• Spaces that can be reserved for meetings and group collaboration. Visit the booking page for information about reserving a room.

• Conference Room: This space can be booked for HFH employee use. The conference room features a 75” monitor with HDMI connectivity capability, a Polycom phone for teleconferencing, and seating for 8 people.
• Two Collaboration Rooms: Space in the rear of the library that previously housed our print journal collection has been converted into two glass-walled Collaboration Rooms. Each Collaboration Room is equipped with a television monitor with HDMI connectivity capability built into the table top, a whiteboard, and comfortable seating.
• Training Room: Featuring 10 computers (equipped with Internet access, Microsoft Word, and Endnote) for learners to use; one presenter computer with on-wall display monitor, Polycom telephone. 

Added amenities

• New tables and chairs throughout the library. The tables in the study area are equipped with electrical outlets for charging your devices or powering up a laptop. We also have comfortable seating and a spectacular view of downtown Detroit.
• Ten private study carrels line the windows along the east and west sides of the library. These desks are designed for users that prefer to work in a more private, secluded environment.
• Refreshed paint, carpeting, window shades, and signage throughout.
• Built-in reference book shelving and new book display area. 
• A dedicated computer within the print book collection provides easy access when you need to search the online catalog for a book title.

The Sladen Library is very grateful that Henry Ford Health and Medical Education recognize the important role library services and the library as a place plays within our institution. This remodel is not for the sole benefit of the Sladen Library, but hopefully every user we welcome through our doors each day.
