Tips for Working with Sladen Resources

Here are a few tips for success when searching for articles to support your research or to answer a question:

  • Always use the links to resources/databases like PubMed and CINAHL that are provided on the Sladen Library website. Using the Sladen links will ensure access to the database and connect you to our subscribed journals so you can easily download full-text articles. 
  • When searching in a database, look for the red Find It @ Sladen  button to connect to our full-text subscribed articles.
  • If you are working from home or off the Henry Ford Health network, you can still use Sladen resources! Use your Henry Ford Health Corp ID and Password to login to Remote Access. Visit our Remote Access page for more details. 

ClinicalKey for Nursing: Many tools in one place

ClinicalKey for Nursing is a resource specifically designed to meet the information and reference needs of nurses. Nurses can search for information on conditions, diseases, and drugs. Some of its features include:

  • Full text access to nursing journals
  • Online access to a variety of nursing books
  • Drug information 
  • Procedure Videos - Need a refresher on how to perform a procedure? There are a number of videos that will walk you through performing the procedure along with providing detailed instructions, equipment lists, and pre- and post-procedure care instructions.
  • Nursing scales
  • Clinical Skills - Access Quick Sheets, Extended Text, Supplies, Demos, Illustrations, and Checklists. The skills are based off of authoritative nursing guidelines, standards, and textbooks including Perry & Potter’s Clinical Nursing Skills & Techniques, and AACN’s Essentials of Critical Care Nursing.
  • Gain CE credits through Clinical Updates
