Introduction

This guide will help you find information in the field of Food & Nutrition.  If you need assistance, contact the Sladen Information Desk.

Access

Sladen databases and electronic resources are available for Henry Ford Health System employees and affiliated students. 

• If you are using a computer at a Henry Ford Health System facility you will not need a User Name and Password to access online resources.

• For offsite access from home or another location, you will need to sign in.

• Most users can login to the library remotely using their HFHS User Name and Password (it's the same as your HFHS Outlook User Name and Password).

Mobile Resources - Diet, Nutrition, & Fitness

  • BMI Calculator
    App to help calculate body mass index. For the iPhone and iPad.
  • Calorie Counter & Diet Tracker by MyFitnessPal
    Available for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad.
  • Ask Karen
    Tips on safe food handling, storage, and preparation. Live chat with USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline also available during certain hours. Available as a mobile website, iOS app or Android app. Link is to the mobile website.
  • GoMeals  
      
    This app allows you to search for nutritional information for grocery foods and restaurant items, keep a log of the nutritional values for the food you eat each day, and features a restaurant locator.
  • Fooducate
    This app allows you to scan grocery product barcodes. It then analyzes the product's nutrition information and extracts the information that is most important to you the consumer. Available for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and Android.
  • Lose It!
    This app allows you to set a daily calorie budget and keep on track by recording your food and exercise. Available for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad.
