Required 90-Day Reverification

UpToDate requires registered users to reverify their affiliation with Henry Ford every 90 days for continued off-campus and mobile access to UpToDate.

Reverification can be completed by either of the following two options:

1) Using UpToDate via Epic at least once every 90 days. This will automatically reverify your affiliation and you will not receive any reverification messaging. This method requires no UpToDate login.
2) Login to your UpToDate account from a computer or device connected to a Henry Ford network. This method does require you to login to UpToDate.

Note: Email messaging will inform you of the need to verify your affiliation if you have not done so by the end of the 90 day window. You will receive a second alert at day 90. If you fail to reverify by day 90, you will lose mobile and remote access. To regain access, please complete the reverification process outlined above.

UpToDate Toolbar

UpToDate offers nearly 1500 patient topics on the most common medical conditions and procedures.  Patient information is offered in two formats: The Basics and Beyond the Basics.

The Basics are short articles written in plain language that provide a general overview of the disease/medical problem.  They answer the 4 or 5 most important questions a person might have about a medical problem. These articles are also available in Spanish.

Beyond the Basics are much longer articles (between 5-10 pages) and provide much more detailed, technical information than The Basics.

Patient topics can be printed and emailed using the toolbar in the top right corner in the entry.

The What's New section highlights important changes within the last 6 months by the specialty impacted.  Simply click on one of the specialties to view the updates for that area.

PCUs or Practice Changing Updates are specific recommendations or updates that UpToDate feels may change usual clinical practice.  The section is ordered chronologically for the past years and headings identify the specialties impacted by the change.  The PCUs focus on changes that may have significant and broad impact on practice, and therefore do not represent all updates that affect practice.

The Calculators section provides a list of calculators for clinical criteria and medical equations by specialty.  To view a list of calculators for a specialty, click on the specialty.  Calculators can also be accessed by clicking on Calculators in the Table of Contents, by searching for the term "calculators", or by searching on a particular subject.

UpToDate has partnered with Lexicomp to provide users with access to Lexi-Comp's Comprehensive Drug-to-Drug, Drug-to-Herb and Herb-to-Herb Interaction Analysis Program.

Interactions for a specific medication or supplement can be viewed by entering it's name in the search box on the left and clicking on "Lookup." Click on the name to view a full list of all known medications/supplements that can interact with it.  You can also enter multiple medications and supplements and then select to "Analyze" them to see if any of them interact with each other.
