Which organizations accept credits from UpToDate?

UpToDate is accredited by several healthcare professional associations for continuing education credits. 

UpToDate is accredited by:

  • American Academy of Family Physicians
  • American Association of Nurse Practitioners
  • American Academy of Pediatrics
  • American Academy of Physician Assistants

Epic and UpToDate

The first time you access UpToDate through Epic, you'll be prompted to either log in with an existing UpToDate user name and password or register to create a new user name and password. After you register, you will not need to register again.

If you bypass this page without registering, you can always come back to this page by clicking on the My Account tab and following the on-screen prompts.  This will associate your Epic ID with your UpToDate account, allowing UpToDate to sync your CE activities across your two accounts.

UpToDate CME/CE Credits

Earning CE Credits in UpToDate

Continuing education credits can be earned for activities completed in UpToDate.  In order to earn continuing education credits in UpToDate, you must

1. Access UpToDate through the UpToDate Remote & CME link in the Quick Links on the Sladen Library website.

2. Login to the Sladen Library remote access using your HFHS username and password.

3. The first time you access UpToDate from Remote Access Login you will see the “Log in or Register” page shown below. You can (a) login with an existing UpToDate username and password if you have a personal subscription or (b) register as a new user and create your own username and password. If you do not see the initial registration screen, click on the “CME” or “My Account” tab to register.

Remember: You will not be able to redeem your CME credits until you have registered.

You can change your default CME settings by going to the "CME/CE/CPD" section of "My Account."

Redeeming CE Credits in UpToDate

The redemption process of CE credits varies depending on the type of credit being earned.

For AMA credits, users must complete the 3 step learning cycle to receive credit for the CE.  To do so, you will need to complete the credit log by selecting the options that describe the application of your findings to practice. You may view and complete your monthly credit logs at any time, either prior to or during the process of submitting credits.

  1. To complete a monthly log, go to the "Process My CME/CE/CPD" section of your UpToDate account. 
  2. Click on a month and select the appropriate option for each search to indicate how you applied the information to practice. Click "Save."
  3. Check the boxes under "Submit" for the months that you would like to redeem. 
  4. Click "Continue" to submit the CE credits for processing.
  5. You will be prompted to complete and submit an evaluation of the CME/CE/CPD.
  6. After you submit the evaluation, review your submission request and click "Submit."
  7. UpToDate displays a confirmation page. If you want to view your certificate immediately in PDF format, click the "View/Print Certificate" link on the confirmation page.

 

For CE contact hours and time-based tracking

  1. Go to the "Process My CME/CE/CPD" section of your UpToDate account. 
  2. Check the boxes under "Submit" for the months that you would like to redeem. 
  3. Click "Continue" to submit the CE credits for processing.
  4. You will be prompted to complete and submit an evaluation of the CME/CE/CPD.
  5. After you submit the evaluation, review your submission request and click "Submit."
  6. UpToDate displays a confirmation page. If you want to view your certificate immediately in PDF format, click the "View/Print Certificate" link on the confirmation page.
