Henry Ford Genesys Library Services  

 

The Henry Ford St. John Hospital Medical Library staff services the clinical, educational, research, and information needs of clinicians, staff, and administration serving Henry Ford Genesys Hospital. Please contact the Library with any questions about library services.  

Services available through the Medical Library include:

  • Literature searches
  • Obtaining full-text articles
  • Interlibrary loans; print and electronic
  • Training on database use
  • Consumer health
  • Guideline and policy searches

Reference & Information Services

  • Literature searches are provided for any staff member as long as the subject is work-related. 
  • Please use the Literature Search Request Form to submit search requests. Fill out the form as completely as possible.
  • Requests can also be made by phone (313-343-3733) or email stjohnlibrary@hfhs.org
  • A staff member will run the literature search and email you a list of pertinent journal citations, with abstracts (if available).
  • Literature searches are run on a first come, first served basis and take between 3 to 5 business days turnaround.
  • If you prefer to do your own searches, clinical resources (eg: Medline, PubMed, CINAHL, full-text eJournals, and eBooks) can be accessed from the library's website. You may be prompted to login using your HFH Corp ID and password in order to access subscribed resources.  

Document Services

  • Article requests are generally filled within a day or two.
  • If the Medlcal Library does not have access to a resource, we can request it from other libraries through interlibrary loan services. Normal turnaround time for interlibrary loans is 1-3 business days. 
  • You may also request books through interlibrary loan. 
  • Rush requests - Rush service is only available for patient emergencies.

Education and Training

  • Training is available to Genesys associates as group or one-on-one sessions on how to use library databases and/or library services.
