UpToDate

UpToDate can be accessed through a mobile app that is available for iPhone, iPad, and Android smart phones and tablets. Users must first register for a free individual account with UpToDate through Henry Ford Health. Registration must be done from a computer on the Henry Ford network or from a remote connection to Henry Ford, using the link to UpToDate that is on the Sladen Library website. You may download and login to the UpToDate mobile app on up to 2 different devices.

To Access the UpToDate Mobile App:

  1. Registration must be done from a computer on the Henry Ford network or from a remote connection to Henry Ford, using the link to UpToDate that is on the Sladen Library website. Within UpToDate, click on "Register" in the top right corner and fill out the registration form, including creating a username and password.
  2. You will need to verify your email address (you DO NOT need to use your HFHS email). Click on Send Verification Code and obtain the code that is sent to the email you entered into the form. You have 10 minutes to retrieve and submit the code.   
  3. Once the code is verified, go to your app store and download the free UpToDate mobile app
  4. Open the app and login with the UpToDate username and password you just created

90 Day Re-verification Required:

  • In order to maintain mobile and off-campus access to UpToDate, you will need to verify your continued Henry Ford affiliation every 90 days by logging into your UpToDate account from a computer or device connected to the Henry Ford network.

ClinicalKey Mobile App

ClinicalKey recently updated their mobile app. The browse function has been replaced with a single search box. Content in the app remains the same, it just has to be located through search. Follow the new instructions for access. 

  1. Go to ClinicalKey from the link on the Sladen Library website and click on Register in the top right corner of the page to create a personal account. You must use your Henry Ford Health email address when you create your account. If you do not have an "@hfhs.org" or "@allegiancehealth.org" email (for example, Radiology or HAP employees), contact the Library 313-916-2550.
  2. Next, you have to register your account for remote access by going to https://www.clinicalkey.com/#!/remote-access and follow the prompts to complete that process. Choose your organization as "Hosp Henry Ford - Detroit - WE – Remote Access".  Elsevier will send you an activation email. You must click the link in the email within 60 minutes to complete the process. If you miss the 60 minute window, just repeat Step 2. 
  3. Go to your App Store and download the ClinicalKey app onto your device. 
  4. When you open the app, there are 2 options, "Access via your Institution" or "Access via Network"
    1. If you are on the Henry Ford wifi, you can choose "Access via Network" - and then login with your Henry Ford email and the password you set up in Step #1
    2. If you are off-network choose "Access via Institution" → Choose Henry Ford Hospital as your institution → Enter in your Henry Ford email → The app will send a verification email to your inbox → From your mobile device, open your Henry Ford Outlook email → Click on the verification link that is sent to your email → Allow the link to open in the CK app → Access to app content should be allowed at this point. 

After your first login, your account will stay active for 180 days. Before your 180 days is up, go to ClinicalKey from the Sladen website and login to your personal account to re-up your access.

ClinicalKey for Nursing App

  1. Next, you have to register your account for remote access by going to https://www.clinicalkey.com/#!/remote-access and follow the prompts to complete that process. Choose your organization as "Hosp Henry Ford - Detroit - WE – Remote Access".  Elsevier will send you an activation email. You must click the link in the email within 60 minutes to complete the process. If you miss the 60 minute window, just repeat Step 2. 

VisualDx App

VisualDx is a visual reference tool for medical professionals that aids therapeutic decisions and improves patient safety.

  1. Go to VisualDX from the link on the Sladen Library website (under Quick Links on the Sladen homepage, the Database list, or click link above).
  2. On the VisualDx homepage, below the colored icons, click the button to "Create a Personal Account".
  3. Enter in the required information and submit.
  4. Next, from your app store, download the free VisualDx app for your device.
  5. Login on the app with the username and password you created in Step 3.

Web of Science

Web of Science can be accessed through a mobile app for iOS and Android. The app is called Web of Science My Research Assistant, or MyRA. Using the app through an account affiliated with HFH provides users with additional search functions not available to free users. Users can use a pre-existing Web of Science account, or create a new account to login. 

To use the app, your Web of Science account has to be set up for roaming access. To do this:

  • Go to Web of Science from the Sladen Library website.
  • Click "Register" in the top right corner if creating a new account, or "Sign In" if you already have an existing Web of Science account. If you are creating a new account, you will need to click a link sent to your email address in order to complete the process. 
  • Finally, download the app onto your device and login using the credentials for your Web of Science account. 
  • To keep roaming (app) access enabled, you will need to login to Web of Science on the Henry Ford Health network every 6 months. 

PubMed

The new PubMed interface is mobile-optimized and automatically adjusts to fit any screen. If you use the Find It @ Sladen links to access full-text articles, you will be asked to authenticate with your Henry Ford Health remote access ID and password (Henry Ford Health Corp ID).

STAT!Ref App

Access Henry Ford Hospital's STAT!Ref ebook collection on your mobile device. STAT!Ref comes via the TDS Health platform. Follow the steps below to create a free personal account for TDS Health and begin accessing the STAT!Ref books on your mobile device.

  1. Go to STAT!Ref from the Quick Links box on the Sladen Library website
  2. In TDS Health, click on "Profile" located above the search box and click Register to create an account.
  3. Go to the “Welcome” and (your name) drop down located above the search box and select “Anywhere Login Account.” Click the “Activate” button.
  4. Next, from your app store, download the free STAT!Ref app to your device.
  5. Open the app and login with your TDS Health ID and password.

Your mobile ID and password is active for 3 months at a time. To reactivate after 3 months, login to your TDS Health account, revisit the "Anywhere Login Account" tab and click the Renew button.
